Job Purpose:
The Assistant Cook will assist in the preparation and cooking of meals for our patients, attendees and colleagues. Ensuring that food is prepared according to dietary requirements, safety standards, and meal schedules. This role supports the smooth operation of the kitchen and helps maintain cleanliness and food safety compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
-Assist with food preparation, including chopping, mixing, and assembling ingredients, while adhering to safe food handling practices.
-Help cook and present meals according to the menu plan, ensuring they meet dietary restrictions and nutritional needs of residents.
-Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen areas, following strict food safety and sanitation standards.
-Comply with HACCP protocols to ensure food safety from preparation through to serving.
-Monitor food inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies, ensuring stock is fresh and compliant with healthcare food standards.
-Ensure all meals are prepared in a timely manner, meet dietary restrictions, and are suitable for residents' health conditions.
-Assist room service attendants with serving meals to residents in a professional, caring, and respectful manner, while maintaining hygiene and safety.
-Support the Head Cook with any other kitchen-related tasks, including maintaining compliance with healthcare sector regulations and standards.

-Previous experience in a kitchen or food service environment preferred.
-Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
-Strong communication and teamwork skills.
-Ability to follow instructions and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
