Job Description:

We are seeking a diligent and customer-oriented individual to join a team as a Pharmacy Cashier at the west of Mauritius. As a Pharmacy Cashier, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service while efficiently managing transactions and ensuring accuracy in handling payments. This role requires individuals with a strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality in handling sensitive information.

Responsibilities:

  1. Greet customers warmly as they enter the pharmacy and assist them with their inquiries or direct them to the appropriate staff member.
  2. Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently using the pharmacy's computerized system, including ringing up purchases, handling cash, debit/credit card transactions, and issuing receipts.
  3. Maintain a neat and organized cashier area, ensuring cleanliness and adherence to health and safety regulations.
  4. Verify insurance information and process insurance claims for prescription medications as needed.
  5. Collaborate with pharmacy staff to answer customer questions regarding product availability, prices, and usage.
  6. Provide information on over-the-counter medications, supplements, and other products available in the pharmacy. 
  7. Uphold a positive and professional demeanor when interacting with customers and colleagues, resolving any customer complaints or concerns in a timely and efficient manner.
  8. Stay informed about promotions, special offers, and new products to effectively promote sales and enhance customer satisfaction.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of a Secondary School Certificate (SC) or Higher School Certificate (HSC).
  • Previous experience in a cashier or customer service role is preferred.
  • Excellent mathematical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and multitask efficiently.
  • Proficiency in using computerized point-of-sale systems and basic computer skills.
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical products and terminology is an asset.
  • Must be reliable, punctual, and able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Must reside in the west region of Mauritius or be willing to commute to the designated location.
  • Ability to speak English and French fluently is preferred.
